Buying The Right Jewelry

A few years ago, I got a great gift for my wife. I thought it would be nice to choose a gorgeous gold locket with our family picture in it. She absolutely loved the gift, so I was surprised when she never wore it out of the house. After I talked with her, she explained that the locket was too nice to wear with most of her everyday outfits. That day, I learned a little about buying the right jewelry. Together, my wife and I have developed this blog dedicated to all things jewelry, so that you can buy the right gifts for your loved one.

Three Jewelry Repairs That You Should Get Done Before The Problem Gets Even Worse

Jewelry is often one of people's proudest possessions, with many proudly showing off their favorite rings, necklaces, watches, and piercings whenever they go out and about. It is quite common to have a collection of jewelry that you can pick and choose from in order to match your outfit. However, people often forget that jewelry is quite delicate, and it can and will get damaged through repeated use. Of course, that is nothing to be worried about, especially when jewelry repair can be done at most jewelers, but it is important that you get these issues looked at as soon as they arise so they do not get worse.

Loose Precious Stones

It is always a good idea to have a quick look and feel of the precious gemstones in your jewelry before going out, and if you do notice that they give way a little bit, then you might want to reconsider taking that piece out for the evening. Precious metals can be easily remolded to the item of jewelry with a simple adjustment that does not cost very much. What will cost a lot more is replacing that precious gemstone with a new one if you lose it, so do not take that risk when the alternative is so easy.

Broken Links

While many people often complain about a broken clasp on their necklace or wrist, people often underestimate how common a broken link is. This will almost always result in the necklace, watch or bracelet immediately falling off, so it will be far more noticeable than a broken clasp most of the time, as a broken clasp can still be kept in place for a while. Making sure the link is replaced with the same material and in the same design is tricky, but not impossible. For important pieces, this should be a no-brainer, as it is a shame to keep a broken piece in the jewelry box when a repair is so easy to get.

Rings Too Small Or Big

As you age and your body changes, it is quite common for rings to stop fitting that once slid on and off very easily. Whether they become too small or too big, all it takes is for a jewelry professional to get the measurement of your new finger and then delicately stretch out the ring. This will not impact the ring's overall design, as it is often only adjusted by a few millimeters, if not less. Don't risk getting your ring stuck and having to get it cut off or losing it as it slips off your hand in a crowded space. Ring resizing is very quick and easy so if you notice a bad fit, change it!
